Young West Kent entrepreneurs put through their paces at final judging for Young Start-up Talent 2014

Young entrepreneurs from around the region have battled it out for the chance to win £50,000 worth of business products and services all donated by the local business community.
The projects judges are all from the business community who came together to break down the final four’s business plans in a Dragons Den style final. The finalists put into practice all they had learnt through the workshops, mentoring and 121 speed networking session earlier in the month.
From the beginning of the year the team searched West Kent looking for the young people who have a ‘can do’ attitude towards business, providing workshops for students in schools, colleges and universities to help them to develop their ideas further. Those who entered each had their business ideas broken down by the team who selected four entrepreneurs to go through to the speed networking session to speak to business professionals on a 121 basis, helping to develop their business ideas and concepts.
Making up the final this year included a diverse range of ideas, 18 year old Karis Gill is currently studying for ‘A’ levels at Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar and her company ‘Katchspace’ brings a whole new perspective to the advertising industry.

Currently studying hair and beauty at K-College is 18 year old Brian Cosham-Elam who’s new hair and beauty concept ‘La Bella Vita’ is a new, interesting way to experience the finer things in life.
Local resident and student at Christ Church Canterbury University is 19 year old Rajan Musha who is looking to produce an app to bring all of the local events and best deals into one place for students to access.
Last into the Den was 19 year old Eden Tiltman who’s company ‘BALES has a new fresh approach to the care industry whilst currently studying for ‘A’ levels at Hugh Christie Technology College in Tonbridge.
Making up the judges was Director of Operations of Town & Country Housing -Jo Ellis, Senior Editor at the Courier Media Group - Roger Casper, Senior Partner of Cripps Harris Hall – Michael Stevens, Partner of Reeves & Co – Paul Roe, Director of Media Word Waves - Lorraine Nugent and Director of CreativePod – Matt Turner.
All of the candidates had perfected their ideas, stunning the panel and making their decision on who will walk away with the investment which ran late into the evening. Filmed at K-College in Tonbridge,
the production team was made up of two teachers from St Wilfrid’s School in Gatwick Josh Smith, Craig Brown who supplied the equipment and Young Start-up Talent’s media assistant, James French.
A showcase event will take place on the 9th June at Trinity theatre in Tunbridge Wells where the sponsors, judges, teachers, past contestants and finalists will come together to find out who will be announced as the winner of the £50,000 prize fund for 2014 in West Kent.
